One Street, One Week

This map shows crashes along Fletcher Avenue and the surrounding area reported by the Florida Highway Patrol, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the city of Tampa from Sept. 3 to Sept. 9.

1. INTERSTATE 75 AT FOWLER AVENUE, SEPT. 3, 1:19 P.M.: A southbound Honda cut off a southbound 1999 Ford truck, causing the 20-year-old female Ford driver to swerve and side-swipe the guardrail. The truck then veered to the other side of the road, hit the shoulder and flipped into the embankment. The Honda fled the scene, and no charges have been filed at this time. The injured were taken to University Community Hospital.

2. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 19TH STREET, SEPT. 4, 2:52 A.M.: An eastbound 2001 Hyundai turning left across traffic hit a westbound 2002 Daewoo. The 17-year-old female driver was charged with failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.

3. FLETCHER AVENUE AT BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD, SEPT. 4, 2:55 P.M.: An eastbound 2001 Pontiac turning right out of a private driveway was hit by a southbound 2001 Chevy. The 26-year-old female Pontiac driver was charged with a right of way violation and with driving on a suspended lisence without knowledge.

4. 138TH AVENUE AT NEBRASKA AVENUE, SEPT. 4, 5:30 P.M.: A 1984 Ford truck exiting a private residence was hit by a 1979 Dodge. No charges were filed. The injured were taken to University Community Hospital-Carrollwood.

5. BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD AT UNIVERSITY PLAZA STREET, SEPT. 4, 6:50 P.M.: A 1993 Ford rear-ended a 1992 Toyota that was stopped at a stop sign. No charges were filed.

6. INTERSTATE 275 AT BEARSS AVENUE, SEPT. 4, 9:40 P.M.: A 1988 Honda stopped at a light was rear-ended by a 1997 Ford when the driver's foot slipped off the brake pedal. The 22-year-old female Ford driver was charged with careless driving. The injured were taken to University Community Hospital.

7. FLETCHER AVENUE AT INTERSTATE 275, SEPT. 5, 8:37 P.M.: The driver of an eastbound 1987 Mercury lost control of the car, which then ran over the curb and continued into a nearby parking lot, where it hit a semitrailer truck that was parked facing east. The 72-year-old male Mercury driver was charged with driving without a valid driver's lisence.

8. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 23RD STREET, SEPT. 6, 7:47 P.M.: A westbound 2000 Chevrolet rear-ended a 2001 Hyundai that was stopped for traffic. The 21-year-old male Chevy driver was charged with following too closely.

9. FLETCHER AVENUE AT INTERSTATE 275, SEPT. 7, 12:25 P.M.: A northbound 1999 Jeep changed lanes and hit a northbound 1994 GMC truck. The 21-year-old female Jeep driver was charged with making an improper lane change.

10. FLORIDA AVENUE AT 127TH AVENUE, SEPT. 7, 7:05 P.M.: A northbound bicycle hit a 2003 Nissan at a stop sign. No charges were filed.

11. FLETCHER AVENUE AT INTERSTATE 275, SEPT. 8, 8:15 A.M.: A northbound vehicle ran over a metal object in the road, causing it to hit the windshield of a northbound 1995 Nissan van, and then to enter the interior and injure the driver. No charges were filed. The 35-year-old female van driver was taken to University Community Hospital.

12. BEARSS AVENUE AT SMITTER ROAD, SEPT. 8, 2:25 P.M.: An eastbound 2000 Toyota truck rear-ended a 2004 Honda truck that was slowing down to make a U-turn. The 40-year-old male Toyota driver was charged with careless driving.

13. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 15TH STREET, SEPT. 8, 6:33 P.M.: An eastbound 1989 Chevrolet rear-ended a 1996 Volvo, causing it to hit a 2004 Honda. No charges were filed. The injured were taken to University Community Hospital.

14. INTERSTATE 275 AT BEARSS AVENUE, SEPT. 8, 7:07 P.M.: A southbound 1991 Honda whose driver was checking for oncoming traffic rear-ended a 2004 Nissan that was stopped for traffic. The 18-year-old male Honda driver was charged with careless driving.

15. FLETCHER AVENUE AT INTERSTATE 275, SEPT. 9, 7:35 A.M.: A Northbound 2000 Dodge rear-ended a 2004 Nissan that was stopped for traffic. The 24-year-old female Dodge driver was charged with careless driving.

16. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 22ND STREET, SEPT. 9, 8:05 A.M.: A southbound Ford van changed lanes abruptly, attempted to turn left across traffic and hit an oncoming 1991 Acura. The 53-year-old female Ford driver was charged with making an improper turn.

17. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 15TH STREET, SEPT. 9, 1:10 P.M.: A westbound 2000 Chevrolet's brakes failed as it was turning, causing it to hit a southbound 1991 Chevy stopped at a light. No charges were filed.

18. FLETCHER AVENUE AT INTERSTATE 275, SEPT. 9, 1:25 P.M.: An eastbound 1993 Ford rear-ended a 1998 Dodge van. The 78-year-old male Ford driver was charged with careless driving.

19. FLETCHER AVENUE AT INTERSTATE 275, SEPT. 9, 1:52 P.M.: An eastbound 1998 Chevrolet rear-ended a 1996 Toyota that was stopped for traffic. The 20-year-old female Chevy driver was charged with careless driving.

20. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 46TH STREET, SEPT. 9, 4 P.M.: A 1996 Honda rear-ended a 2002 Nissan that was stopped for traffic, causing it to hit a 2002 Honda. No charges were filed.

21. INTERSTATE 75 AT FOWLER AVENUE, SEPT. 9, 8:55 P.M.: A 2002 Pontiac hydroplaned, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and drive onto the shoulder. The 20-year-old male driver then struck a traffic control device with the left rear of his car and came to rest in a ditch.

22. BEARSS AVENUE AT LIVINGSTON AVENUE, SEPT. 9, 9:30 P.M.: A southbound

1998 Pontiac turning left across traffic was hit by a westbound 2000 Toyota, which was hidden by traffic. The 19-year-old female Pontiac driver was charged with a violation of right of way.
