Rahall and Crisco recently completed the Pikes Peak Marathon at Pike National Forest in Colorado. Billed as "America's Ultimate Challenge," the race starts at an elevation of 6,295 feet, increasing to 14,110 feet at the summit of Pikes Peak, where the runners turn around and come down the mountain. Rahall completed his fourth Pikes in 7 hours, 33 minutes, 42 seconds. Crisco completed his seventh in 7:42:24. The winner's time was 4:00:04.

Derek DeRaps, 18,


DeRaps, a freshman at Georgia Tech, acquired his third degree black belt on Aug. 7. The Hillsborough High graduate has been a student of Bill Heimberger's Martial Arts since age 5. Before leaving for college, he completed a series of tests that included self-defense technique combinations and standup sparring with his head instructor.

Ethan Bixby, 49,

St. Petersburg

Bixby, with wife Trudy crewing, won the Windmill Class championship by a large margin. When not running an area sail loft, he is mainsail trimmer on Roy Disney's maxi-racer Pywacket, which competes worldwide and recently won KielRace Week in Germany.
