A 76-year-old man who was hospitalized after he ran a red light at U.S. 19 and State Road 50 in Weeki Wachee earlier this month succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.
Anthony Dicaro of 8484 Foxfire Road, west of Brooksville, died about 3:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he had remained since the Sept. 12 accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A preliminary investigation showed that Dicaro was traveling west on SR 50 when he failed to stop for a red light and drove into the path of a Buick Regal driven by Dorothy Sieber, 19, of Spring Hill.
Sieber, who was headed south on U.S. 19, has not been charged. An investigation is pending.
Sieber's passengers, Denise Giglio, 20, and Nick Sieber, 2, were treated for minor injuries. They were wearing seat belts, according to FHP. Dicaro was not.
