Lindsey Hadden, 14, Palm Harbor

Hadden recently earned her black belt in tae kwon do. Once a March of Dimes Ambassador Child, weighing less than 2 pounds at birth, Hadden qualified for the Junior Olympics last year and took sixth at nationals.

Jessie Jones, 14, Terra Ceia

Jones and her mom, Angie, took first in the women's BB division of the Bud Light Beach Volleyball Pro/Am on Aug. 28 at Coquina Beach. They outlasted a field of nine adult teams to win the final. Jessie will be playing this fall as a freshman on the Palmetto High indoor volleyball team.

Amanda Geving, 15, Largo

Geving had a big summer in BMX racing. The Seminole High sophomore finished second in the girls 15 Challenge Class at the UCI World BMX Championships July 25-26 in Valkinsward, Netherlands, then three weeks later won the North American Championships in Louisville, Ky. She also has been a state champion five times.

Sara Petrick, 17, Tampa

The Academy of Holy Names senior clocked a time of 19 minutes, 51 seconds to win the Lecanto Invitational Sept. 18. She was the only athlete in the 26-team field to break 20 minutes over a hilly Lecanto course. Petrick set a school record in the team's first race of the year, completing 3.1 miles in 19:03 at the West Hillsborough Invitational.
