Officials respond to fire set at vacant house

Investigators say someone intentionally set fire to an abandoned house early Sunday morning. Tampa Fire responded to the single-story house at 3006 W Crest St. shortly after 1 a.m. The fire marshal later determined that the house was vacant, and the blaze had been intentionally set. Officials said the fire caused at least $30,000 in damage.

Business partner shot,

killed during argument

TAMPA _ A South Tampa man shot and killed his business partner Sunday evening after an argument turned violent, police said.

No charges were immediately filed. Lt. Rocky Ratliff said police were investigating to see if the shooting was a homicide or an act of self-defense.

The shooter, whom police did not identify, said his business partner entered his apartment at 1314 S De Soto Ave. shortly after 6 p.m.

The two men began arguing, and the partner slapped the other man. The man fired a revolver, striking his partner twice in the upper torso, Lt. Ratliff said.

The partner, whom police also did not identify, died at the apartment.
