LESSON LEARNED FROM OPAL PAYS OFF

Maribeth and Daniel Price examine the rubble where their neighbor's home once stood on Santa Rosa Sound in the Oriole Beach area of Gulf Breeze Friday. Hurricane Ivan left their own home in the background intact except for repairable water damage on the ground floor. After Hurricane Opal destroyed their previous house on the same lot in 1995, they rebuilt on pilings _ putting the top three of four floors at least 19 feet above sea level _ to exceed building codes in effect at the time.
