HILLSBOROUGH OBITUARIES

ACOSTA, WILLARD "WILLIE", 36, of Tampa, died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 2004). Survivors include a son, Derek; a daughter, Wildalee; mother; stepfather; and three siblings. Morning Glory Funeral Chapel, Tampa.

BENSON, BOBBY DEAN, 46, of Tampa, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 2004) at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. Born at Fort Polk, La., he moved to the area in 1962. He worked for Seaboard Tampa Terminals and served in the Army and Air Force. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his parents, John and Betty, Tampa; a brother J.B., Land O' Lakes; and four sisters, Cheryl Beitler, Seffner, Penny Micciche, Lakeland, Anita Shoop, Plant City and Melissa, Tampa. CARRENO, LIONEL, 84, of Tampa, died Friday (Sept. 24, 2004). Survivors include a daughter, Deborah J.; a son, Michael; a brother, Jack Espinosa Sr.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Boza & Roel Funeral Home, Tampa.

CONGERO, JOHN, 71, of Brandon, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 2004). Originally from New York, he moved to the area 16 years ago. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Joanne; a daughter, Bettina Kaufmann; a son, Michael; and a granddaughter. Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon.

COULL, GEORGE, 74, of Tampa, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 2004). Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean Coull; two daughters, Shirley Ann Martin and Cathy McBride; a son, George Jr.; three brothers, Jim, Bill and Ian; one sister, Edna; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. de'LEON, ROLANDO ANTHONY, infant son of Liza de'Leon, of Tampa, died Saturday (Sept. 26, 2004). Other survivors include a sister, Destiny de'Leon; maternal grandmother, Ruth B. Cubillan; and maternal grandfather, Teofilo de'Leon. Gonzalez Funeral Home, Tampa.

DION, JAMES, 82, of Lakeland, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 2004) at James A. Haley VA Medical Center. Born in Oxford, Conn., he moved to the local area from Oxford in 1987. He was a World War II Army veteran, Catholic, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include two sons, Gregory F., Port Charlotte and Frederick, Land O' Lakes; four daughters, Aubrey Quackenbush, Roxbury, Vt., Dell McDonough, Middlesex, Vt., Laura, Washington Depot, Conn. and Monique Dion-Secula, Stratford, Conn; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. GRAHAM, ELIZABETH R., of Tampa, died Monday (Sept. 27, 2004). Survivors include a cousin, Orin Harris, Tyler, Texas. Blount & Curry, Tampa.

JENT, JERRY Z., 51, of Plant City, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 2004) at South Florida Baptist Hospital. A Plant City native, he was an iron worker and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his mother, Ruth, Plant City; and two brothers, Larry, Turkey Creek and Dennis, Plant City. Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon.

LANG, MARY ANN, 72, of Temple Terrace, died Monday (Sept. 27, 2004) at her home. She was born in Fairhaven, Mass. Survivors include her husband, George I.; and two daughters, Pamela Eccles and Kathryn Lang. Terrace Oaks Funeral Home, Tampa.

LOPEZ, AIDA J., 70, of Tampa, died Monday (Sept. 27, 2004). Survivors include her husband, Alejandro Alfonso; and a son, Alejandro Alfonso Jr. Gonzalez Funeral Home, Tampa.

MAHURIEN, EVELYN MARGARET, 88, of Hudson, formerly of Thonotosassa, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 2004) at Tandem Health Care of Bayonet Point. Born in Detroit, she moved to the local area six months ago from California. She was Pentecostal. Survivors include her husband, Elbert Ray, Almont, Mich; and three daughters, Joan Marie Lentini, Hudson, Doris Dubois, Thonotosassa and AnnMarie Gigilo, Roseville, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. ROSE, LEWIS, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 2004). He was the owner and president of Rose Upholstery, Tampa, for over 50 years. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., he served in the Army Medical Corp. in the South Pacific in World War II. He was sponsored many young workers from the DCT Plan, and was fond of horses, good food and football. Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Naomi; two daughters, Dale and Karen; a granddaughter; two sisters, Roslyn Stewart and Harriet Rawlings. Blount & Curry, Tampa.
