A 43-year-old clerk at Little Caesars Pizza in Spring Hill was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of overcharging customers and pocketing the difference, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, William M. McCracken of 12244 Pine Bluff St. stole $1,544 from the business at 11066 Spring Hill Drive. He was taken into custody at 11:13 a.m. Tuesday and charged with organized fraud, a felony.
The report stated that McCracken, who was released Tuesday on his own recognizance, told customers he would charge them a sale price at the register but instead placed the order at full price.
The pizza restaurant's new owner reported the theft Sept. 18. She told authorities that McCracken had admitted to stealing $847, but repaid only about $600, the report stated.
During the investigation, a detective learned that McCracken allegedly stole $697 from the restaurant's previous owner, reports state.
If convicted, McCracken faces at least five years in prison.
