She has had more careers and wardrobe changes than any female in history. She's 45 years old but never looks a day over 25. She's Barbie, the doll that made a small toy company into a giant (Mattel) and forever changed the way little girls play with dolls. More than 300 incarnations of this toy icon will be on display at the Florida International Museum, 100 Second St. N, St. Petersburg, beginning Friday and continuing through Dec. 31. The dolls, mostly vintage, including the original Barbie from 1959, above, and accompanying sets and playhouses, are on loan from Deland collector JoAnn Winspur. The museum will host many special events for children during the run of "The World of Barbie." For information, call 822-3693 or visit www.floridamuseum.org. See Friday's Floridian section for more on the wonderful world of Barbie.
