Choreographer Ana Maria Stekelman took Argentina's greatest export, the tango, and combined it with modern dance. The result: Tangokinesis, her Buenos Aires-based troupe of four women and four men. The women are, for the most part, trained in ballet, while the men come from a tango background. Stekelman's dances "have elements of both fantasy (you don't know exactly what will happen next) and inevitability (what does happen is unexpected, but seems absolutely right) that makes them both fascinating and satisfying," the Washington Post said. Tangokinesis performs at 7 p.m. Sunday in Ferguson Hall of Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. $22.50-$44.50. (813) 229-7827 or toll-free 1-800-955-1045; www.tbpac.org.
