Transportation officials reversed course late Wednesday and decided to reopen the State Road 200 bridge at the Citrus-Marion county line.
The bridge was closed at 5:30 p.m. after officials with the Florida Department of Transportation became concerned that supports around the bridge's pilings were being washed away by raging floodwaters of the Withlacoochee River.
They predicted the bridge would be shut down several days.
But DOT spokesman Kris Carson said later the bridge was reopened after additional tests showed the structure was sound.
A story in today's Citrus Times went to press before officials decided to reopen the bridge.
