WAY TO GO, SON

David Enrique Silva, 8, left, a second-grade English for Speakers of Other Languages student at Spring Hill Elementary, gives his mother, Liser, a high-five after she helped with his math homework Wednesday. Although Silva's mother speaks very little English, she helps him with his homework, which is written in English, every afternoon for up to two hours. "But I don't know how because she speaks Spanish and he speaks English," said the boy's father, David Silva. The Silvas, including David's sister, Yashira, 16, who attends Central High School, moved here from Puerto Rico. STORY, 5
