Teen survives six-story fall from garage

A Central Florida teenager survived a six-story fall after he failed on his try to leap from the top of one downtown parking garage to another Friday.

Timothy Paul Bargfrede, 18, of Longwood, suffered a broken shoulder and other fractures in the 3 a.m. accident, said his father, Tim Bargfrede.

The younger Bargfrede and an unidentified friend realized they were at the wrong parking garage, so the friend jumped from one roof to the other, about a 2{-foot leap, Orlando police Lt. Orlando Rolon said.

But Bargfrede fell when he tried to jump, Rolon said. During the fall down about six floors, he became wedged between the buildings.

Orlando firefighters had to cut through the concrete to free Bargfrede, Rolon said.

"He's very lucky to be alive," his father told the Orlando Sentinel.

Boy, 2, killed while playing with scooter

PENSACOLA _ A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car as he played on a push scooter in front of his home, officials said.

Jordan S. Trotter was playing with the scooter between his house and one across the street Thursday when he was hit by a Ford Mustang driven by Micheal Juan Hyun Pasco, 21, of Pensacola, state troopers said.

The boy died at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said it was unclear if the child was on the scooter when he was hit by the Mustang.

Troopers did not say if charges were pending.
