Car rear-ends motorcycle at red light; rider dies

A 55-year-old woman died Saturday after her motorcycle was rear-ended on Eiland Boulevard about 4:15 p.m., authorities said.

Madilyn L. Rigsby of Tierra Verde in St. Petersburg was taken to East Pasco Medical Center after the collision, where she later died.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Rigsby was eastbound on Eiland, approaching Dean Dairy Road when she slowed for a red light. A Jeep behind her, driven by Christine Sears of Wesley Chapel, failed to slow down.

The Jeep hit the motorcycle, and Rigsby, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected when the bike overturned.

Police say Auburndale man, 88, kills himself in car

ZEPHYRHILLS _ An 88-year-old man died Sunday morning of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Witnesses heard the shot near U.S. 301 and South Avenue about 9:45 a.m., and found Henry Bucy of Auburndale slumped over inside his car. Bucy was taken to East Pasco Medical Center, where he later died. A note detailing his wishes for funeral arrangements was later found in his car, Zephyrhills Police Sgt. Robert Perrault said.
