A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an SUV at St. Joe and Lake Iola roads on Sunday afternoon.
The motorcyclist, Merle A. Bush, 63, of Brooksville was heading south on Lake Iola Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at St. Joe Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle collided with a 1996 GMC SUV driven by Antonio Romano, 51, of Dade City, and headed east on St. Joe Road.
Bush, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and ended up in an orange grove at the southeast corner of the intersection.
The SUV hit the road's shoulder and overturned onto its left side, according to the accident report.
The SUV then went airborne before coming to rest on its wheels on the south shoulder of St. Joe Road.
Bush was flown by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, but later died, the report said. Romano and his passenger, Diane J. Romano, 54, were taken for treatment of minor injuries to Pasco Regional Medical Center, the report said.
