RARE SUCCESS

The Steelers became only the fourth team and the first from the AFC to finish 15-1 since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule in 1978. There could have been three had the Patriots not been upset by the Dolphins and the Eagles not lost their final two games. Note: Strikes led to a nine-game season in 1982 and a 15-game season in 1987 (the 49ers won 13 and the Saints 12 in '87).
