Two men were arrested Sunday in connection with the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven clerk.
Douglas Redmond Jr., 20, and his accomplice, Kregg Holley, 19, were caught within blocks of the convenience store, at 15310 Cortez Blvd., a Hernando County sheriff's report states.
The robbery occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday when Redmond, of 1389 Finland Drive, Spring Hill, approached the clerk and pointed a handgun at him, reports say.
Redmond, who wore a hat to conceal his identity, went behind the counter and placed the gun behind the clerk's head and threatened to kill the man if he did not empty the cash register, an arrest report states.
After the clerk opened the cash register, Redmond grabbed $35 in cash and ran toward the getaway vehicle, driven by Holley, who lives at 11035 Millerdale Road in northwest Hernando County, the report states.
Deputies found Redmond and Holley in the area and took them into custody.
The 7-Eleven clerk and two customers who were inside the convenience store during the robbery identified both men.
Redmond was charged with armed robbery; Holley was charged with being a principal to armed robbery. On Monday, Redmond and Holley each were being held in the Hernando County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Authorities recovered the hat worn by Redmond and the suspected getaway vehicle, but they were unable to find the handgun.
