Police are searching for a 22-year-old man who they said is the prime suspect in a fatal drive-by shooting.
Brian Edward Glick of St. Petersburg is wanted on charges of first-degree murder in the Sunday morning shooting death of Preston Palmer Ferguson, 28, also of St. Petersburg, police said.
Glick and Palmer had an altercation early Sunday near Cherry Street and 11th Avenue NE, police said. Glick left the area soon afterward. Ferguson went to his car.
But before Ferguson could get in his vehicle, a car passed by and a passenger fired several shots with a handgun. Ferguson was shot once in the upper torso. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he died.
The car that carried the shooter was described as a silver or gray four-door model, possibly a Toyota or a Nissan, with tinted windows.
A woman who said she was Glick's mother declined to comment Monday.
Police want to find Glick and also to speak to anyone who might have been in the car. Anyone with information is encouraged to call homicide Detective Gary Gibson, (727) 893-7512; or the police communications center, (727) 893-7780.
