City employee's job hangs on meeting

(ran West edition)

Pinellas Park officials have scheduled a hearing for 10 a.m. Thursday to decide whether Bud Wortendyke should be fired. Wortendyke, who has led the city's annexation efforts since December 1997, is accused of mismanaging city real estate and attempting to hide a mistake by asking a city employee to "lose" the correct information in the files. Wortendyke declined to comment. Wortendyke, 60, earns $58,670 a year.
