The man who police say fled from them early Monday morning in a chase that seriously injured four people, including two Pasco sheriff's deputies, has been arrested.
Thirty-one-year-old Scott Alexander Eddins of Hudson faces charges including fleeing to elude, driving with a suspended license, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless driving and possession of cocaine.
Officers who arrested him Monday night found him with a crack pipe in his pants pocket, Port Richey police reported.
A sheriff's patrol car involved in Monday's pursuit collided with a Honda Accord at Regency Park Boulevard and Ridge Road. The Florida Highway Patrol still is investigating the crash.
Those seriously injured were being treated Tuesday at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.
Deputy Robert Ferro remained in serious condition. Deputy Kenneth Petrillo remained in fair condition.
Honda driver Jennifer Wohlgemuth, 21, of Port Richey remained in critical condition, as did passenger Pasquale Berardi, 24.
Eddins of 13709 Parkwood St. was being held in the county jail Tuesday in lieu of $49,013 bail.
Eddins has had his driver's license suspended six times, according to arrest reports. His criminal history includes charges of fraud, larceny and robbery by sudden snatching, state records show.
