A 90-year-old woman was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon after she stumbled into her swimming pool and nearly drowned. Rescue workers took Edna Johansen to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point after her brother-in-law found her submerged in the pool, pulled her out and began CPR, sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said. Johansen lives on Robin Nest Drive along with her brother-in-law and two sisters. She apparently had been straightening a bathroom in the pool area about 3 p.m. when she lost her balance and fell in, Tobin said. He stressed the information was preliminary.
