Burglars busy early on at shopping plazas

Published Aug. 24, 2005

Six businesses were burglarized early Wednesday morning when thieves smashed their glass doors and made off with cash registers, Largo police said. Investigators had no leads nor any suspects. Officers responded to Tri-City Plaza near East Bay Drive and U.S. 19 shortly after 1 a.m., Capt. Glen Smith said. They found the glass doors to Cici's Pizza, Deeya Indian Cuisine and Golden China Restaurant smashed open and their registers gone. It was unclear how much money was taken. Then, at 3:30 a.m., officers went to the ICOT Center on 58th Street N and found three other stores, Celebrity Deli & Cafe, Wild Orchid Florist and Anew You Salon & Day Spa, robbed in a similar fashion, Smith said. Investigators did not have a description of the thieves, but a witness told police two men with medium builds had been seen outside the ICOT Center at the time of the burglaries. Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Largo police at (727) 587-6730.
