HILLSBOROUGH OBITUARIES

BENSON, BOB, 61, of Lutz, died Wednesday (Jan. 5, 2005) at his home. He moved to Land O'Lakes from Wisconsin in 1979. Survivors include a son, Rob, Lutz; two brothers, Doug, Pickerell, Wis. and Richard, Land O'Lakes; and a grandson. Loyless Funeral Home, Land O'Lakes/Lutz Chapel.

BROWN, ALBERTA M., 90, of Orlando, formerly of Plant City, died Wednesday (Jan. 5, 2005). Born in Live Oak, she grew up in the local area later moving to Miami and then Orlando in 1962. She was a homemaker and was Pentecostal. Survivors include a son, Robert, Tampa; two daughters, Josephine Shelton and Marcelle Finley, both of Orlando; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. GARNHART, THERESA M. BOKOWSKI "TERRI," 55, of Belleview, formerly of Tampa and South Pasadena, died Saturday (Dec. 18, 2004) at home of cancer. She was born in Washington, D.C., and moved to Belleview in 1996. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville. She was a museum exhibit designer for Guglielmo and Associates, Tampa, for 15 years. Most recently she was a designer for The Villages Design Center. She helped re-establish the Military and Hospitalier Order of St. Lazarus, Malta Obedience, in Florida. She was a member of the order of St. Stanislas, the board of Mental Health Care and the Greater Hillsborough County Fair. She was a past president of the Hillsborough County Council of PTA/PTSA, former director of the St. Petersburg Museum of History, a former officer of Friends for the Hillsborough County Museum and a former member of the Museum Advisory Board of Hillsborough County (Museum of Science and Industry). Survivors include her husband of 33 years, George; a son, James Gregory Garnhart; a daughter, Stephanie Marie Garnhart; and two sisters, Deborah Guglielmo, Tampa, and Patricia Bradford, Springfield, Va. MESSER, RICKY "SLICK RICK," 16, of Tampa, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2005). He was born and raised in Tampa. Survivors include his mother, Patricia Raburn; a brother, Christopher; and two sisters, Shannon Marie and Crystal. Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, Brandon.

PEREZ, FORTINO V., 34, of Wimauma, died Saturday (Jan. 1, 2005). Survivors include a brother, Wilfredo, Wimauma. Zipperer's Agape Mortuary & Crematory, Ruskin.

RHODES, SHAWN C., 33, of Tampa, died Saturday (Jan. 1, 2005). Survivors include his wife, Tina; a daughter, Judy; three sons, Trenton, Austin and Jesse; a brother, Kevin Young; and three sisters, Kelley Murrow, Debbie and Sheila. Garden of Memories Funeral Home, Tampa.

ROBLES, MARY THELMA, 91, of Tampa, died Thursday (Dec. 30, 2004). Born in Sylvester, Ga., she was one of 13 children. After graduating from the Macon School of Nursing, she served as a nurse in Port Washington, N.Y. She and her husband returned to Tampa in 1943, where she worked at W.T. Edwards Tuberculosis Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Robles Gatlin; two brothers, Irvin Johnson and Hubert; two sisters, Hazel Tobias and Pat Wilson. SIMMONS, KEITH MITCHELL, 40, of Tampa, died Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2005). Born in Tampa, he was a business owner. Survivors include his wife, Mayra; two sons, Keith Mitchell II and Clayton Scott; a daughter, Sierra Ashley; all of Brandon; his mother, Augusta Susan Taylor, Tampa; and four brothers, Vincent, Paul, Steven and Michael Taylor.
