Overtime favors the Warhawks

After letting a nine-point lead slip away, which Seminole had with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter, overtime did not seem to be a promising prospect.

But the Warhawks held on, outscoring Boca Ciega 8-3 in the period to win 58-53.

The victory did not come easily. A 3-pointer by Devon Collins with 6:30 left in the fourth gave Seminole a 45-36 lead.

But the Pirates answered with a nine-point run, tying the score at 45 with 3:37 left. That set up a dramatic, down-to-the-buzzer finish, which included a 3-pointer by the Warhawks' Bill Hobach with 35 seconds left to make it 50-48 and a basket by the Pirates' Trayce Macon with 14 seconds remaining after two offensive rebounds.

Boca Ciega had just one basket in overtime on a three-point play from Enoris Sly.

Seminole trailed early, down 9-2 three minutes in, but a 13-point run gave the Warhawks a 15-9 advantage with two minutes left in the first quarter, a lead they held until the fourth quarter.

Collins and A.J. Comi paced Seminole with 16 points each, with Hobach adding 15. Boca Ciega got 19 points from Sly and 12 from Macon.
