Dover man faces animal cruelty charge

A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday after sheriff's deputies said he slit the throats of two raccoons while camping at Fort De Soto Park.

Paul A. Jaizamillo of Dover was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of animal cruelty.

Deputies said Jaizamillo shot two raccoons with a BB gun about 10 times before midnight on Thursday. Jaizamillo then slit their throats while they were still alive, deputies said.

Jaizamillo told deputies he was upset because the raccoons had gotten into his cooler of food while he was camping at the park, according to an arrest report.
