A Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service will take place 4 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg, 719 Arlington Ave. N, St. Petersburg.
The service is being organized by Congregations United for Community Action (CUCA) on behalf of the St. Petersburg Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee. The Rev. Curtiss Long, pastor of New Faith Free Methodist Church and co-chair of CUCA, will give the commemorative address. Top winners of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest sponsored by the commemorative committee will read their essays.
Refreshments will follow. Parking is on the north and south sides of the church and on surrounding streets.
PSTA extending service hours on popular routes
CLEARWATER _ Several south Pinellas County bus routes are adding more evening service starting today, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority has announced.
Riders on the most heavily used routes _ 14, 18, 19, 52 and 59 _ will have added service Monday through Friday.
In addition, route 68, which operates with a trolley between John's Pass and Tyrone Mall via Bay Pines, will have extended evening trips on Friday and Saturday to provide later connections to the Suncoast Beach Trolley.
Route 15, with service between Gulfport, Central Plaza and downtown St. Petersburg, will also feature an earlier morning run.
New timetables are available at Williams Park and at the Central Plaza Terminal, or through the schedules-by-mail program.
