Products recalled for their hazard potential

The following products were recalled between Dec. 17 and Jan. 6:

+ 72,000 Extra-Duty and Heavy-Duty Swing Seats by Swing-N-Slide Corp. A manufacturing defect can cause the metal grommet securing the seat to break, causing occupant to fall. The swing seats are either green (extra-duty) or yellow (heavy-duty) and are hung from a crossbeam by two plastic-coated metal chains. They were sold at Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace, DIBC, TruServ, Handy Hardware and Emery-Waterhouse stores from January through June 2004 for about $30. Call toll-free 1-800-888-1232;

+ 425,000 Robertshaw 7000 Series Gas Control Valves by Robertshaw Controls Co. If the pilot light goes out, the gas valve could stick in an open position, permitting gas to continue to flow and possibly resulting in a gas explosion and fire. The recalled gas valves are installed in gas appliances, including residential space heaters, wall heaters, boilers, fireplaces, pool heaters, infrared heaters and furnaces and commercial heating applications such as commercial cooking appliances, fryers, commercial water heaters and poultry brooders. They were manufactured between February 2003 and September 2004 and have production dates beginning with code 0306 and ending with 0436. Not all 7000 Series valves manufactured during the indicated time frame are being recalled. They were sold through gas appliance retailers and distributors; food service equipment manufacturers and dealers; specialty retailers, such as fireplace, pool and spa dealers; and poultry equipment manufacturers, or separately through gas appliance service providers. The wood cribs included in this recall are the Daniella, Leeat, Noa, Naomi, Gabriella, Amber and Series 300 models. Some have built-in storage drawers on the side of the crib or underneath the crib.
