WHEN: Today through Sunday.
WHERE: City of Tampa Tennis Complex at Hillsborough Community College, 3901 West Tampa Blvd.
NOTEWORTHY: This event typically is a proving ground for top-ranked juniors, college players and pros beginning their careers. In the past, USTA events here have drawn players such as Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Mardy Fish, Lindsay Davenport and Mary Pierce. The Grand Slam in Tampa is the only entry-level event combining male and female players. And the international field has players from as far away as China. This year's top seed is Matias Boeker, who is ranked No. 275 in the world and is a former NCAA singles champion. Also keep an eye on Alex Kuznetsov, 17, the 2003 French Open Boys runner-up.
