Police are investigating the death of a psychiatric patient Monday at St. Anthony's Hospital.
Police spokesman George Kajtsa said a patient fell to his death around midnight from a window on the fifth floor of the hospital at 1200 Seventh Ave N. A doctor and a nurse told police that the patient was being uncooperative, Kajtsa said.
He said police do not suspect foul play, but are investigating whether the patient fell accidentally or committed suicide.
Neither police nor the hospital have released the patient's name.
St. Anthony's spokeswoman Dana Novak said hospital executives are cooperating with police. Because of patient confidentiality, she said she could not discuss what steps officials took to oversee the patient.
"Of course, patient safety is our utmost concern," Novak said. "We have security measures in place for all patients, including psychiatric patients."
