ARNT, HORACE C. "CHUCK," 68, of Largo, died Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2005) at Bay Pines VA Medical Center. He was born in East Stroudsburg, Pa., and came here in 1992 from Thomasville, N.C. He worked in sales for Electrolux Co. and most recently as a security guard at Shipwatch Condominiums, Largo. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Barbara; three sons, Michael Freire, Palm Harbor, Joseph Freire, Charlotte, N.C., and Scott Freire, Alexandria, Va.; three daughters, Kirstin Pratt, Lakeland, Melissa Nunley, Lawton, Okla., and Karen Muendell, Westchester County, N.Y.; his father, Horace M. MATTINGLY, JANICE F., 66, of Largo, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2005) at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. SHAPIRO, GAIL T., 62, of Largo, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2005) at home. She came here in 1988 from her native Cincinnati. She was a nurse and worked many years at Sun Coast Hospital, Largo. She was Jewish and a member of the National Wildlife Federation. SVERAK, IRENE I., 81, of Largo, died Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2005) at Largo Medical Center. She came here in 1974 from her native Chicago. She was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at the gift shop at Largo Medical Center and for local elementary schools. She was a member and eucharistic lay minister at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Largo. She enjoyed bingo, dancing and playing cards. Survivors include a daughter, Lynda Hanke, Key West; a son, Ronald Harding, Burbank, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
