Largo

CONSTINE, ANDREW H., 105, of Largo, died Monday (Feb. 6, 2006). He was born in Roxbury, Vt., and came here in 1965 from Springfield, Mass. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Craven, Tarpon Springs; a son, Clesson, Spring Hill; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. DUNCAN, MAREJO L., 55, of Largo, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at Largo Medical Center. She was born in Rockville, Md., and came here in 1986 from Annapolis, Md. She worked as a hotel clerk. She was a cat lover. Survivors include a sister, Marjorie E. King, her caregiver Cecil T. King, and a nephew, Cecil T. III, all of Largo. Abbey Affordable Cremation & Funeral Services, Largo.

HAMEL, PHYLLIS IRENE "LIL PHYL," 62, of Largo, died Thursday (Feb. 9, 2006) at Largo Medical Center. She was born in Constantine, Mich., and came here in the mid-1980s from Dowagiac, Mich. She was retired. She was a fan of NASCAR driver Ken Schrader. Survivors include her companion, Gene Stipp; two sons, Lloyd, Largo, and David, Michigan; a daughter, Tina Terrel, and two sisters, Donna and Diane, all of Michigan; and eight grandchildren. LAVERON, GERALDINE M., 95, of Largo, died Saturday (Feb. 11, 2006) at Oak Manor Nursing Center. She was born in Nova Scotia and came here in 1971 from New York City. She graduated from Flower Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse. She later earned a master's degree in nursing at New York University and was a professor of nursing at the university until she retired. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. Survivors include two brothers, Elwood Zwicker and Dennis Zwicker, and three sisters, Elfreda Mossman, Elda Zwicker and Deborah Zwicker, all of Nova Scotia. O'HANLON, MOLLIE, 61, of Largo, died Saturday (Feb. 11, 2006) at Largo Medical Center. She was born in Muskogee, Okla., and came here in 1993 from San Rafael, Calif. She was a homemaker and a member of the Red Hat Society at Bon Appetit Restaurant, Dunedin. She was Lutheran. Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Jim; and a daughter, Beth Condon, and two grandsons, Liam Condon and Simon Condon, all of Dallas. Pinellas Park

KONKLE, VIRGINIA, 69, of Pinellas Park, died Sunday (Feb. 12, 2006) at Hospice House Woodside. A native of Cincinnati she came here in 1971. She was an accountant for PARC in St. Petersburg. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Donald McHenry, St. Petersburg, Douglas McHenry, and Daniel McHenry, both of Pinellas Park; three daughters, Vickie Kruck, Seminole, Patricia Richards, St. Petersburg, and Sharon Edmunds, Floral City; a brother Gerald Richards, Punta Gorda; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. St. Petersburg

FARAG, BADIA, 93, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at Bayfront Medical Center. She was born in Egypt and came here from New Jersey in 1980. She became a U.S. citizen in 1970 and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Clearwater. She enjoyed reading and swimming. Survivors include three sons, Samir Zaki, Atef Zaki, and Ashraf Zaki, all of Tierra Verde; a brother, Risk Farag, Sydney,; and six grandchildren. Taylor Family Funeral Home, Pinellas Park.

HIMES, JAMES E., 77, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at St. Anthony's Hospital. A native of St. Petersburg, he graduated from St. Petersburg High School. He was a plumber and a Merchant Marine. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 123, for 50 years, and a member of the Elks Lodge in Madiera Beach. Survivors include his wife, Olivia; two sons, James, St. Petersburg, and Mark, Austin, Texas; four daughters, Sharon Holland, Brenda Cooper, and Allison Marie, all of St. Petersburg, and Susan LaVelle, Dallas; a brother, John, Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Margaret Lifsey and Joanne Vogel, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. KRAJEWSKI, BERNARD R. SR., 85, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at Dolphins View Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Pasadena. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here in 1979 from Colonia, N.J. He was a millworker for Merek and Company for 34 years. He was a past commander of the VFW in Colonia, and was a member of the Elks in St. Petersburg, and the American Legion, and was a Mason. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed golf. Survivors include a son, Bernard R. Jr., St. Petersburg; three grandchildren, Karen Lyn Turk, Fords, N.J., Leigh Ann Nafis, Dayton, N.J., and Bernard R. MCGOFF, MARY AGNES, 97, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) in the Bons Secour Maria Manor Nursing home. She was born in Wilks Barre, Pa., and came here in 1951. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher at St. Paul's Catholic School and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Maurice, and Michael, both of St. Petersburg, and John J., Chatahoochee,; a daughter, Mary McGoff, St. Petersburg;and a granddaughter. NIXON, RONALD MARK, 48, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute. He was a native of St. Petersburg. He was a press operator for MTD Tech. in Pinellas Park. He was a member of Moore's A.M.E. Church, where he sang in the choir. He was a graduate of Dixie Hollins High School. Survivors include four sons, Ronald, Orlando, Rondale, Martell, and Ronde, four daughters, Markesha, Orlando, Rannesha, Marquella, and Marquilla, a brother, Eddie Jr., two sisters, Agnes T. Nixon, all of St. Petersburg, and Diana Nixon, Orlando; his companion, Celeste Johnson, St. Petersburg; and two grandchildren. Smith Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.

PIERSON, EDWARD ALBERT "AL," 87, of Clearwater, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at Morton Plant Hospital. He was born in Waverly, Ill., and came to Clearwater in 1963 from St. Petersburg. He owned and operated Al Pierson Painting and Decorating. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a Seabee. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marjorie; a daughter, Barbara Drake, Largo; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. RENE, LILIANE, 72, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at home. She was born in Haiti and moved here from Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1989. She was a hotel chamber maid. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Wilson; a daughter, Elsie Apollon, Metuchen, N.J.; three sons, Errol, Brooklyn, Patrick, Dayton, N.J., and Donald, Atlanta; and six grandchildren. SCOLNICK, WILLIAM STUART, 88, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (Feb. 11, 2006) at home. He was born in New Haven, Conn., and came here from Saugerties, N.Y. in 1998. He graduated from Yale College and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lieutenant with the 105 Field Artillery of the 27th Infantry Division and Lieutenant Colonel with the Commanding General of the Mid-Pacific. He was vice president and director of Van Heusen Corp. for 23 years and remained director until 1997. He was a member of the Stuyvesant Yacht club and the Yale club. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Catherine; a sister, Lila Liner; and several nieces and nephews. Beach Memorial Chapel, St. Pete Beach.

THOMAS, LUCIOUS, 59, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at home. A native of Springvale, Ga., he came here in 1957. He was a truck driver. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Brian, Redmond, Wash., and Marcos, Clearwater; two daughters, Brenae Thomas, Bridgeton, N.J., and Keturah Hughey, Atlanta; a brother, Leavey, Sanford; two sisters, Mamie Rogers, and Gracie Pace, both of St. Petersburg; and five grandchildren. VANSCOYOC, KARL N. III, 23, of Brooksville, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2006) at home. He came to Brooksville 12 years ago from his native St. Petersburg. Survivors include his parents, Karl and Michelle VanScoyoc Jr., a brother, James, and step-grandmother, Stella Dial, all of Brooksville. WILLIS, LINDA S., 58, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. She was born in Lothair, Ky., and came here from Lexington, Ky. in 1991. She was a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch and Dean Witter. She was a member of Disston Park Church of God. Survivors include her husband of 25 years, G. Michael; two sons, William C. Sandford Jr., Lexington, and John R. Sandford, Paris, Ky.; two daughters, Rebecca S. O'Brian, St. Petersburg, and Lisa R. Seminole

BLAKE, MARGARET H., 81, of Seminole, died Thursday (Feb. 9, 2006) at Belleair East Health Care Center in Largo. Born in Hermon, Maine, she came to Florida in 1968 from Alexandria, Va. She was a member of Take Pounds Off Sensibly for 25 years. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Largo. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, George E. Blake Sr.; a son, George E. Blake Jr., Seminole; a brother, Lonnie Sullivan, Brockton, Mass.; and three grandchildren. Veterans Funeral Care, Clearwater.

FENNER, HARVEY WHITLEY JR., 94, of Seminole, formerly of Pinellas Park, died Thursday (Feb. 9, 2006) at the inn at Lake Seminole Square. He was born in Washington, N.C., and came here in 1997. A retired Army colonel, he was a veteran of the Vietnam and Korean wars and served with the medical corps during World War II. He was a civil and environmental engineer in North Carolina, Chicago and South Dakota and was on the faculty at New York University's College of Engineering. He was a sanitation engineer for the United Nations and a governmental adviser for the World Health Organization in Lybia, North Africa. He received the American Campaign Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, six overseas bars and the Bronze Star. He was Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Marie Louise; a son, the Rev. Harvey Whitley, Wakefield, R.I.; a daughter, Barbara Sue Highfield, Oklahoma City; a sister, Louise Belote, Archdale, N.C.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Lewis W.
