Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Shawntavia Keaton, sister of Yataye Keaton and Tamiko Keaton and niece of Loretta Thompson, all of St. Petersburg, was named Blue Jacket of the Year, was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and was promoted to her current rank for outstanding performance as a cryptologic technician with Naval Forces Central, 5th Fleet aboard the USS Blue Ridge. She also was recently named Seventh Fleet Junior Sailor of the Year.

Air Force Airman Richard M. Northrup, son of Mary Gorton of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Mark A. Eaker, son of Donna L. Eaker of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska. He is an airfield maintenance operations supervisor with the 3rd Operations Squadron. He is a 1991 graduate of Lakewood High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Aaron C. Mabee, son of Barbara K. and Jay D. Mabee of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Army Pvt. Travis A. Pearce, son of William A. and Lisa J. Clark of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Light-Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is a 2003 graduate of Five Oaks Christian Academy.

Army Pfc. Joshua Withers, son of Cynthia R. Withers of St. Petersburg, recently returned to Fort Stewart, Ga., from deployment in Iraq. He is a multichannel transmission systems operator-maintainer with the 4th-64th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He is a 2003 graduate of Tampa Bay Technical High School, Temple Terrace.
