Parents of 4-year-olds will have their choice of 51 Hillsborough County elementary schools that are offering prekindergarten this summer. There are no attendance boundaries for this free, state-supported program.
To participate, parents first must get a certificate of eligibility. These are currently available. For additional information, call (813) 740-4713.
Second, call a district hotline, which is not yet set up, to preregister for your preferred school. You will get a reservation number.
Finally, go to your assigned school to officially enroll. Bring the eligibility certificate, reservation number, your child's birth certificate and immunization record. Seats not claimed by May 5 might be given to others.
The participating elementary schools, announced Tuesday, are:
AREA 1: Ballast Point, DeSoto, Gorrie, Just, Rampello, Washington, West Tampa
