Health survey to reach out to county by phone

Published Feb. 16, 2006|Updated Feb. 16, 2006

Starting in March, Hernando County residents may be receiving a telephone survey call in which they will be asked questions about personal health, health care accessibility, environmental health and other public health issues. The Hernando County Health Department's Health Care Advisory Board is asking that residents cooperate should they receive the survey phone call.

The survey will take about 20 minutes. Some of the questions will be personal. Answers are strictly confidential, and since the survey is conducted by a telephone survey company that uses a random dialing system, the surveyor will not know the name of the person being called.

The survey is part of the 2006 Hernando County Community Health Needs Assessment, a project of the Health Care Advisory Board.

The last assessment was completed in 2001. That assessment, a 250-page report, gave an updated snapshot of the health of the county. Copies of that report are available at all Hernando County libraries, as well as online at www.health.co.hernando.fl.us or www.co.hernando.fl.us/. Copies may be purchased by calling Gina Dowling at the Health Department, 540-6800, ext. 82114. The 2006 report is expected to be available in July.
