In the race for new residents, Hillsborough expects to be one of the Florida's fastest-growing large counties while Pinellas will be one of two growing the least. With little undeveloped land, Pinellas should add about 130,000 residents by 2030, for a total of 1.08-million, according to a University of Florida report released Monday. Over the same period, Hillsborough should grow by 550,000 people for a total of 1.7-million. Florida's population stands to increase from 18-million to 26.4-million by 2030. In the long run, UF surmises, bad hurricane seasons should not alter trends.
