After 14 months of deployment in Afghanistan, Sgt. Douglas Lofreddo, a deputy with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, greets his son, Robert, 2, during a welcome home ceremony Wednesday at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga. The 690th Military Police Unit of the Florida National Guard, based in Crystal River, was stationed at Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan, providing security and guarding prisoners. Robert, his brother Charlie Veal-Lofreddo, 11, and their mother, Julie Lofreddo, spent the day making posters, which they waved as the soldiers arrived. Julie Lofreddo wore a T-shirt with the words: "Always in my heart, now in my arms."
