Police have jailed the second of three suspects in a recent fatal shooting at the Remington Apartment Homes, after a grand jury this week indicted him on charges of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.
But police believe the third suspect, a 16-year-old, fled to his native Jordan before authorities could execute an arrest warrant.
Christopher George Irizarry, 18, of 6638 Marina Point Village, Apt. 207, in Tampa, was booked into the Orient Road Jail Wednesday, jail records show.
Jonathan Monsanto-Berrio, 20, was held earlier this month on the same charges. The juvenile suspect is believed to have returned to Jordan recently with his father, said Tampa police spokesman Joe Durkin.
Detectives say the three confronted Antonio Jamael Burkes, 18, at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the apartment complex off N 30th Street. Durkin said the three lured Burkes there, telling him they planned a drug transaction, but all along they intended to rob him.
Burkes was shot in the head, police said.
