Man killed in accidental shooting is identified

Police on Thursday identified Juan Miranda as the 18-year-old who was accidentally shot and killed by his 17-year-old roommate this week.

Miranda and his roommate Nathan Oakley, who grew up around Melbourne, liked to point guns at each other for fun, police said. On Monday night, Miranda was pointing a rifle at Oakley, his childhood friend. Oakley was pointing a 9mm handgun at Miranda. Oakley accidentally fired, killing his friend with a shot to the face, police said. Oakley ran to a convenience store and called for help.

Oakley, of 2721 39th Ave. N, was arrested on a charge of negligent manslaughter. Another roommate, Roger Fontecchio, 21, was arrested on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police said Fontecchio owned the 9mm handgun used in the shooting.
