Tampa has a new look, thanks to the addition of 90 downtown street pole banners designed by local artists.
The Tampa Downtown Partnership and Mayor Pam Iorio on Tuesday launched 2006 Urban Atmospheres, a public art program designed to celebrate and enhance downtown.
The banners express the artists' interpretations of Tampa through the portrayal of subjects such as city landmarks, landscapes and architecture. The theme was "Windows to the City."
The banners will be on display across downtown through April. After the display, the banners and original artwork will be sold at a reception and auction to benefit future public art projects and nonprofit organizations.
The auction is set for April 19 at TECO Plaza. Before the auction, the original artwork will be on display at Bank of America Plaza.
