VIKINGS

Maybe the Vikings aren't trying to trade Daunte Culpepper.

According to espn.com, the seventh-year quarterback out of UCF said in an e-mail to the media that he cleared up his situation with owner Zygi Wilf.

"Mr. Wilf and I spoke by phone on (Tuesday) and we each shared our concerns about my present situation," Culpepper wrote. "He told me that the Vikings have not yet spoken to other teams about trading me. I shared my disappointment with the lack of communication and the false reports about me demanding more money coming out of Minnesota. I have requested further talks so that we can explore options for the future."

Culpepper had said he planned to play for the team despite reports it was considering trading him.

Culpepper, who missed most of last season and had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right knee, seems on track to return this season, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
