EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is a recap of the week's news events in Citrus County, in the words of the newsmakers.

"He still owes me a honeymoon."

- STACY PADILLA, on her husband, Sgt. Alberto Padilla, who just returned from Afghanistan with the 690th Military Police Company. They were married in November 2004, just weeks before the unit shipped overseas.

"We've had someone here for every welcome-home ceremony for the past three years. That's something that Vietnam War vets didn't get, and I want to make sure that this doesn't happen to these soldiers."

- JIMMY WAYNICK, of the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter in Hinesville, Ga., whose group was on hand to welcome back the 690th MP Company.

"It won't be a place to warehouse students."

- BILL MURRAY, School Board member, on a tour of the nearly completed Renaissance Center for students with behavioral problems.

"At the end of the day, we are going to proceed."

- PETER SPITTLER, to Yankeetown residents objecting to a resort development Spittler is planning for the small town.

"Nothing."

- SPITTLER, answering a Yankeetown resident who asked what people can do to stop the project.

"Dad would be saddened to see the attendance decrease like it has."

- CLAUDIA WILLIAMS, daughter of famed baseball player Ted Williams, on the scant attendance at the Ted Williams Museum in Citrus Hills. Officials are planning to move the museum's collections to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

"We sure don't want to go through that again."

- PATRICK THOMAS, deputy supervisor of elections, on the turmoil following the 2000 presidential elections.
