Commissioners will go into closed session during tonight's City Commission meeting to discuss a pending lawsuit against the city.
State law allows closed public meetings for discussion of legal actions. Once the lawsuit is settled, the minutes of the meeting become public.
The lawsuit, filed last year by R. Roese Contracting Co., alleges the city violated a 2002 contract for work done to the utility system. The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $15,000.
Roese made a settlement offer this month, though the amount is not listed in court documents.
"We're going to discuss with the commission what our options are," City Manager Harold Sample said.
The commission meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
