Girl, 11, and dog hit crossing street

An 11-year-old girl on roller skates was hit by a car Tuesday as she crossed Park Boulevard at Ridge Road.

Nikki Taylor of Seminole was with her mother and the family German shepherd as they walked across Park Boulevard about 3:25 p.m., said a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report. The dog slipped its collar and was hit by a car.

As Nikki's mother went to check on the dog, Nikki followed and was hit by a car driven by Jennifer Halfinds of Seminole, the report said.

Nikki was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. A neighbor picked up the dog. Its condition was not known.

No criminal charges are expected, the Sheriff's Office said.
