Early voting for the general election started Monday across Florida, and thousands of people in the Tampa Bay area took advantage of the increasingly popular alternative. No major glitches were reported. "It's a great start," said Nancy Whitlock, a spokeswoman for the Pinellas Supervisor of Elections Office, adding that about 2,000 people cast ballots Monday. "We're very pleased with the response on the first day." The date for casting your ballot the old-fashioned way is Nov. 7, also known as Election Day.
Snipes in no hurry to leave Namibia
Wesley Snipes won't stop filming in Namibia despite a U.S. warrant for his arrest on tax fraud charges filed in Tampa, the producer of Gallowwalker said Monday. Joanne Reay said Snipes was on location in the desert near the town of Swakob and plans to stay until the third week in December. "As far as we understand, Wesley is not going to be arrested in Namibia," she told the Associated Press.
