Event celebrates 'scenic highway'

The Corridor Advocacy Group and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise will host a dedication ceremony to celebrate the Suncoast Parkway's "scenic highway" designation at 1 p.m. Friday at Anderson Snow Park, 1360 Anderson Snow Road. Registration set for Toys for Tots The Marine Corps League Detachment 708 will accept registration for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program in Hernando County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, Nov. 13 to Dec. 16, at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St. The program is for children ages 6 months to 12 years. Parents or guardians must register in person and must bring proof of residency (driver's license or current utility bill) and birth certificates for each child. 'Kids Helping Kids' seeks volunteers

"Kids Helping Kids" SJD Children's Charity Fund seeks volunteers to help raise funds for needy children. The nonprofit charity was established by Shawn and Jessica Doolittle of Spring Hill. Benefit set for snake bite victim

A benefit dinner for snake bite victim Mikey Evans is 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at Brooksville Elks Lodge 2582, 14494 Cortez Blvd. The cost is $8, which includes a roast pork dinner, homemade desserts and music provided by the Shoe. The 14-year-old local youth is recovering from snake bites he incurred in July after stepping into a rattlesnake pit. Call 796-1762 or 688-9576.
