Pennington ends slump

Chad Pennington, who had thrown for 200 yards once since opening the season with two 300-yard games, threw for 286 and a touchdown for New York.

He was 5-for-5 for 89 yards on the Jets' first series of the third, including 28 yards to Chris Baker and 35 to Jerricho Cotchery. He then lofted a pass to the front corner of the end zone that Laveranues Coles caught.

Later, rookie Mario Williams fell on Pennington while Jason Babin had his right leg. But he missed one play. And after the Jets punted, Kerry Rhodes' interception put them at the Houston 26. On the second play, Pennington hit Cotchery for 18 yards. And two runs by Cedric Houston made it 23-3.

NOTABLE: Mike Nugent's four field goals for New York tied a career high, and his 54-yarder set a career high.
