Sacks sink Steelers' hopes

The Ravens sacked Ben Roethlisberger nine times and allowed only 36 first-half yards in winning their fifth in a row. The loss left the defending champ with only a slight chance of reaching the playoffs.

"A very pitiful performance out there," coach Bill Cowher said.

One sack, by Bart Scott, forced Roethlisberger to miss a play.

"We do what we always do," said linebacker Terrell Suggs, who had two. "We just did a little bit more of it."

Four of the Steelers' first six drives ended in three-and-outs. The seventh ended with a sack by Corey Ivy that resulted in a fumble that Adalius Thomas returned 57 yards for a touchdown and 24-0 lead with 4:46 left in the third.

NOTABLE: Steelers star safety Troy Polamalu hurt his knee. His status is unknown.
