25-MILE BIKE RIDE WILL PEDAL OFF SATURDAY

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office's annual Ride & Run with the Stars 25-mile bike ride will take off Saturday from Fort De Soto Park.

The annual event raises money for the sheriff's Christmas Sharing Project, which benefits crime victims, children and families during the holidays.

Saturday's event also includes a 10K bike ride and a 5K race for runners, prizes, a silent auction, a climbing wall and bike rodeo for kids. The registration fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt and other giveaways.

When: Registration begins at 7 a.m.; the bike ride begins at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Where: The picnic area at the fort.

Tree lighting is Thursday

The city of Gulfport's' annual Holiday Tree Lighting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Clymer Park, between Gulfport and Beach boulevards.

Check out retro style Saturday at the Retro-Rama antiques and collectibles show at the Gulfport Casino.

TREASURE ISLAND

Holiday parade is set

Treasure Island's community holiday parade and tree lighting will begin at sunset Saturday. The Admiral Farragut and Boca Ciega marching bands will be on hand, as will Santa and Mrs. Claus.

When: Parade at 5:15 p.m. Saturday; the tree lighting is at 6:15 p.m.

Where: The parade begins at Treasure Bay, 10315 Paradise Blvd.

The Treasure Island Beautification Committee meets the first Tuesday of every month.

Y to give parents break

The North Beaches YMCA is offering "Mom's Morning Out" to give parents a break to rest up or prepare for the holidays. YMCA staff members will supervise and entertain kids while parents shop, run errands, or relax.

Children must be potty-trained and supply their own drinks and snacks. It is necessary to register one day in advance.

When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mondays.

Where: Mom's Morning Out is held at Calvary Episcopal Church, 1615 First St., Indian Rocks Beach.
