CHURCH'S WALK TO BENEFIT HEALTH MISSION IN HAITI

St. Paul's Catholic Church's "Walk for Health in Haiti" is Saturday.

It is an effort of the church's Partners with Haiti Ministry. St. Paul's, which has a twin parish in Haiti, is raising money to support its medical mission to the impoverished country.

The walk begins at the church, 1800 12th St. N, goes down 17th Avenue to Crescent Lake and returns to St. Paul's. It's open to additional walkers and to those who would like to sponsor a walker. Registration is $20 and begins at 7:30 a.m. The walk starts at 8. Call 822-3481.

Flu shots available

The Pinellas County Health Department has received 5,000 more doses of adult flu vaccine. The flu infects between 5 and 20 percent of the population each year, with about 200,000 being hospitalized and 36,000 dying. Shots will be available at doctor's offices, walk-in clinics, flu shot events and health department locations. Cost at the health department is $25. ST. PETERSBURG

Gandhi to speak

Arun Gandhi, advocate for nonviolence and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, will speak today about "Lessons Learned from Grandfather" in the USF St. Petersburg Campus Activities Center at 6:15 p.m.

Arun Gandhi is founder of the M. K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, based in Memphis, Tenn.

The event is free. The center is at Second Street S and Sixth Avenue. Free parking passes will be available at the Fifth Avenue S parking facility. Call 873-4872.
