Hillsborough County schools will be paid to share semester exams with teachers across the state.
The Florida Department of Education is establishing a clearinghouse of exams. They will be used to help determine performance pay for teachers under a state program called Special Teachers Are Rewarded, or STAR. Most school districts in Florida don't have the library of exams that Hillsborough does.
The state will pay Hillsborough $400,000 to manage the clearinghouse and cover some staffing expenses. The exams will be available in early 2007.
